My 80 is a 1990 HDJ81 with the 1HD-T turbo diesel, and it has 441,976 km on it. Since July 2025 I've logged every service: the date, the odometer, what went in, and a note. That's 13 services and 32,731 km so far.

/THE TRUCK
37 inch tires, Dobinson suspension with Delta control arms, REDARC electrical and a custom drawer system. The odometer reads kilometers, so the log does too.

/MY HDJ81 SERVICE INTERVALS
These are the intervals I run, not Toyota's book. How you drive and what you put in might call for different ones.

The transmission got a full ATF drain and fill at 410,761 km in July 2025. It isn't on a schedule in the log yet.
/1HD-T OIL CHANGE
Every 8,000 km. The latest was AMSOIL Signature Series Max-Duty 15W-40, a new filter and a new drain plug washer. Before that I ran AMSOIL's 15W-40 full synthetic with a Toyota OEM filter.
There are five oil changes in the log, at 409,245, 416,449, 425,525, 434,225 and 441,976 km. The gaps run from about 7,200 to 9,100 km.
/FUEL FILTER
A Toyota OEM filter every 20,000 km. Two so far, at 417,823 and 440,320 km.
/DIFFS AND TRANSFER CASE
The front diff, rear diff and transfer case get done together every 40,000 km, with Valvoline Extended Protection 75W-90. The last time was at 425,927 km in February 2026. The transfer case also got fresh gear oil in July 2025, the same week as the timing belt.
/COOLANT, BRAKE FLUID AND THE TIMING BELT
The coolant was flushed at 413,000 km, and I didn't write down what went in. Next time it's Toyota red long life coolant.
Same with the brake fluid at 426,500 km: no type recorded. The note in the log says to write it down at the next flush.
The timing belt, tensioner and idler went in at 411,000 km. On a 100,000 km interval, the next one is at 511,000.
/WHAT'S DUE NEXT
Oil comes up first, at 449,976 km. Coolant is next at 453,000, and it has used the most of its interval, 72%. Then the fuel filter at 460,320, and brake fluid and the diffs together around 465,000.
